Roanhorse Consulting: Journal Chapter Outline (coauthored)
Client: Roanhorse Consulting
Brief: The CEO and founder of Roanhorse Consulting was asked to write a feature article about her vision for a “future economy” for Nonprofit Quarterly, (the leading media platform for the nonprofit sector and civil society in the US). Roanhorse had a lot of powerful information to convey, particularly about the way that she came into her work, and hired me to help wrangle, organize and create a proper narrative and storytelling structure out of the various materials—biographical, organizational and political/social.
Response: To help break down the most crucial information, and incorporate Roanhorse’s personal and extremely compelling narrative, I conducted several interviews with her and created a high-level outline about her journey of discovery with economic justice, beginning with Diné roots, and growing up on a reservation. From there, we wove in a “health and wealth” connection to her work and vision (these aspects were crucial to her groundbreaking ideas about matriarchal economies). Based on her indigenous roots and story, I recommended an editorial approach and detailed outline that interwove her teenage journey, and incorporating various visuals and graphic elements to illustrate her unique and feminist vision for collective economic power.
