Soondra Foundation: Nonprofit Case for Support

Client: The Soondra Foundation

Brief: This nonprofit client needed a 4-5 page document that quickly and compellingly made their fundraising case. The organization, which provides healthcare access to India’s working poor through cash grants, had immediate goals of increasing their visibility, communicating their messaging and expanding their fundraising capacity exponentially.

Response: Since this wasn’t a type of document that I’d created before, my first step was research: I reviewed about a dozen nonprofit “case for support” models and learned about the elements of each, so that I could determine how to tell an effective story for Soondra. Once those elements were compiled, I did a series of Zoom interviews with the founder, to discover more of the organization’s story, capture some successes, and build an impact timeline with milestones. Based on that, I created a detailed outline and compiled appropriate reviewed photos and other images to incorporate, so that the finished document would be offset with complementary visuals. Once the language was complete, I worked closely with a designer to place graphics, logos, statistics and more into the final PDF, which was ultimately presented to new and potential funders and supporters, both in-person and via an email marketing campaign.
